#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Fedor Konyukhov’s unique transcontinental flight in the Clean Arctic federal project’s support has started in Arhangelsk on the World Environment Day.
Let us remind that the Clean Arctic project’s ambassador and the international master of sports pilot Igor Potapkin plan to make a multi-stage flight of up to three thousand kilometers from the White to the Black Sea in two and a half weeks. The expedition will end in Novorossiysk on June 22.
Hundreds of northerners came to see off the legendary traveler and polar explorer.
Fedor Konyukhov said:
It’s nice to see how the Clean Arctic project is developing, uniting people from all over our country. Millions of people have focused on a unique territory that needs protection and a special, careful attitude, because the clean Arctic is the future.
According to the traveler, the first thing to do for the Arctic’s development is to get rid of the waste accumulated since Soviet times. This will affect the Arctic regions’ inhabitants’ level and quality of life.
The pilot Igor Potapkin and Fedor Konyukhov took off from the Perhachevo village and successfully covered the first 161 kilometers of the route in 2.5 hours. After refueling, the expedition members continued their flight and covered the second section of the route of 91 kilometers in 1.5 hours. You can watch the route tracker here.
