#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Krasnoyarsk park of flora and fauna Roev Ruchey employees met at the airport and delivered to the zoo an orphaned female musk ox rescued in Taimyr, the zoo press office reports.
The musk ox cub, which was found by the diamond mining company near its dead mother’s body at cape Chelyuskin, was first taken to Hatanga. From there, the calf was transported to Krasnoyarsk, where they have experience in nursing such animals. On flights, the baby was accompanied by veterinarians.
“We are reporting the first information: the child is cheerful, playful, exploring the quarantine enclosure, in which the park staff carefully placed toys in addition to straw. Now she will have to undergo an examination and a rehabilitation period, given that the baby has no maternal immunity at all”, in the zoo said.
The female, who was named Alana, can be seen no earlier than in a month, according to the quarantine conditions.
