#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Rosrezerv federal agency is planning an experiment to store food in the Yakut cryogenic storage facility for the country’s strategic reserve. Research will be carried out for five years at the Institute of Biological Problems of the Permafrost Zone and the Institute of Permafrost Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. A team of scientists will arrive in Yakutsk soon to discuss the details.
Food supplies will be monitored for all five years. Let us recall that in the 50s of the last century, part of the strategic food reserve of the USSR was stored near Yakutsk. When food shortages began in the late 70s, meat with the stamp of 1950–1956 arrived on the shelves of Yakutsk, so we can say that the products were stored in permafrost for 20–25 years while maintaining their quality.
We previously told you that in Taimyr chocolate was stored in Baron Toll’s ‘refrigerator’ for several decades.
