#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The new car park offers electric heating for car engines. This is a pilot project of the Norilsk Development Agency (NDA), implemented jointly with the municipality. The contractor was the EcoFund of the Siberian Federal University.
“Stations for heating automobile engines are included in the Norilsk master plan developed by the agency together with the Urbanika Institute for Territorial Development. This is a more environmentally friendly and economical way”, said Victoria Chulanova, NDA’s deputy director on the city development.

The stations are easy to use – through a smartphone app. In addition, you will need to equip the car with an adapter, the cost of which is from 1000 to 3000 rubles. Eight machines can be heated by four bollards. All eco-sockets have been tested and are ready to be used. Parking price is 5 rubles for 15 minutes and includes 24-hour video surveillance of the parking.
The NDA is confident that in Norilsk the devices will be popular with the townspeople, given the air temperature in the cold months. The cities of Murmansk and Zapolyarny are experienced in using such eco-parking. Now it’s Norilsk’s turn. But it is important to comply with some conditions.
“Before installing electric heating, you need to inspect the territory, because the parking requires big areas for cars. It is also important that after the installation of the equipment, someone maintains the parking area, clear it of debris and snow. This parking lot is serviced by the Department of Housing and Communal Services”, said Anvar Nizamutdinov, deputy director for Improvement of the City Housing and Communal Department.
He insists that it is advisable for car owners to use certified equipment to connect to the power poles, and for the residents of nearby houses – not to block the entrance to the eco-parking by transport.
According to the specialists of the Norilsk Development Agency, the eco-parking was the completion of the first stage of landscaping the courtyards at 8, 10, 10a, Talnahskaya street. Next summer, the transformation will continue: according to Anvar Nizamutdinov, in cooperation with the NDA, the territory will be landscaped, new benches and trash cans will be installed, a cycle path is planned around the playground.
