#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The specialists began implementation of the investment project to equip a snow dump near the Kayerkan district in December, after being included in the list of residents of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The facility’s planned capacity is up to 150 000 cubic meters of snow per month.
The Iceberg company specializes in activities related to motor transport and snow removal. In December, the resident began the implementation of his investment project for the development of a snow dump near Kayerkan. Thanks to close cooperation with the Norilsk Development Agency and the Far East and the Arctic Development Corporation, the entrepreneur managed to get a plot of about 15 hectares for a long-term lease. It is assumed that the site will be able to receive up to 150 000 cubic meters of snow per month.
“Usually it is taken to municipal solid waste landfills, the nearest landfill is 26 kilometers away. Delivering snow there is long and expensive. In addition, high humidity contributes to the reproduction of microorganisms in the garbage mass”, says Andrey Muruyev, Iceberg’s general director. “Unscrupulous performers can store snow in areas where neither control nor reclamation is carried out, and in fact it contains a lot of garbage, and this affects the ecology and attractiveness of the territory”.
Iceberg believes that their example will become contagious and in the future there will be more dry snow dumps in the industrial area.
We add that 23 residents of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation are registered in the Krasnoyarsk region. Over the two years of the program, more than 36.9 billion rubles have been invested in the region’s economy.
