#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In Yakutsk, the first bus in Russia for work in the Far North prototype tests began. The machine can operate in off-road conditions and at extreme temperatures – minus 50 degrees and below. The Arctic bus will have a living module. In an emergency, it will be able to provide full autonomous life support for passengers. The car is designed for up to 20 people stay a day in it. The bus can also keep on the water for an hour.
“The car testing continues. After the tests are finished, we will analyze the information received and use it in the development of design documentation for new vehicles prototypes. The test results will show the directions in which further development of technical solutions is necessary”, said Alexander Eliseyev, head of the Arctic Bus project.
Serial production of the bus at the Ural plant is planned to be launched in 2024, the press service of the Industrial Project Management Center’s Engineering and Innovation project reported.
In addition to the bus, the inventors are also working on an Arctic road train, which will have a cabin and a functional module to accommodate, for example, equipment, doctors, and even classrooms. Now in our country there is no such equipment, but there is a need for it. Caterpillar all-terrain vehicles cannot carry enough passengers, and usual buses are powerless in snow drifts.
The project is carried out on the terms of co-financing. The customer is the Ural Automobile Plant, the funds were allocated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
Earlier, we wrote that the density of roads in Taimyr is 350 times less than the average for Russia.
