#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Vegetation in the tundra is on fire in Talnah, not far from Red Stones. Eyewitnesses say that smoldering had been happening since Sunday.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory said that firefighters had gone to a fire in undra the day before, on July 27. Reports on more fires in other tundra areas began to come after their returning. But fire trucks can’t get there.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations employees brought the information to the Norilsk administration. Now the all-terrain vehicles attracting issue is being resolved to drive up to the fire site and eliminate it.
According to the official information, firefighters extinguished two dry vegetation’s fires on an area of 0.44 hectares in the region over the previous day. Grass has burned in tundra on an area of 0.04 hectares in Norilsk. The reason is the human factor in all cases.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations said that dry grass burned almost daily in the region’s north. Now there is a special fire-fighting regime in Taimyr and Norilsk, and administrative and even criminal liability is provided for its violation.
1,137 fires of dry vegetation have been registered in the region on an area of 3,495.5 hectares since the fire season beginning. 3701 cases of administrative offenses were initiated, 2197 people were fined.
