Upon his return, the traveler will make an exhibition of sketches, each with his own coordinates.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The famous Russian traveler Fyodor Konyuhov has been at a solitary drifting polar station in the Arctic Ocean for five days. Let us remind you that the expedition on the atomic icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy started on 11 July.

The main goal is to study the intensity of ice melting and their drift routes. In addition, as part of the Clean Arctic project, the traveler examines the waters for the presence of microplastics.

Konyuhov will devote his free time from research to creativity – he will create a series of paintings dedicated to the beauty of the Arctic nature. Communication sessions with Konyuhov’s red tent are held twice a day: at 12:00 and 21:00 Moscow time.

At the latest session, the researcher said that it was cloudy at the Pole, snowing sometimes, and the average daily drift was two miles, or about four kilometers.

“I’ve painted two sketches, and upon returning to the icebreaker we will make an exhibition of paintings made at the point of the North Pole. Each picture will have its own coordinates. This expedition is different from my past trips in the Arctic. There I walked every day, moved to the pole. I walked 10–15 kilometers, set up a camp, cooked supper, slept, got ready in the morning – and again on the road. This year I am drifting near the pole, I do not need to go anywhere myself, and this is unusual. No, I’m not bored, time goes very quickly”, says the polar explorer.

In the morning, Fedor Konyuhov conducts a mandatory tour of the camp, checks equipment. To prevent things and boxes from getting wet with melt water, they have to be dragged. There is a lot of melted water. Air temperature is 0 or +1 Celsius.

The polar explorer will spend ten days on the single ice floe. Then the nuclear-powered ship will find the station using special satellite equipment. According to estimates, the ice floe will drift approximately 100–120 kilometers towards Greenland.

Earlier we said that scientists in the Arctic were studying radioactive objects.
