#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A meeting with the gold medalist of the international exhibition of inventors among young people, Ernest Kashapov, was held in the fablab, where he shared his impressions and told about the device that was highly praised by foreign judges in Taipei (Taiwan).
Ernest has been coming up with useful inventions for several years; previously, he presented a jacket that generates heat and a scarf with a valve against condensation. The 17-year-old schoolboy implemented all these ideas together with the fablab staff. This time, the device, which was awarded a gold medal, was brought to life together with mentors Alexey Zemlyansky and Ismail Bayramov.
“It all started with a problem. I noticed that the use of 3D printers is developing very quickly, but using a multi-color 3D printer is an expensive pleasure, and not everyone can afford it. And then I came up with the idea for my device”, Ernest said.
The device that automatically colors the filament for multi-color 3D printing is an attachment that can be connected to any non-color 3D printer. It consists of a body and a rotating drum with four compartments for paint. Its essence is that the initially white filament supplied to it is automatically colored in different already filled colors, that is, for color volumetric printing, white material and the device itself are enough.
“The user creates a 3D model on the computer, specifies what colors should be there and what their order is, then unloads it into a file, according to which the printer begins printing”, Ernest explained.
The young man shared that he is attracted to engineering by the opportunity to come up with unique and exclusive things.
“I am interested in discovering and creating something new and useful, so that I can then ask the world: “How do you like it?” In the future, I will continue to study technical disciplines deeper, and I plan to enroll in an engineering or IT specialist program”, Ernest shared his plans.
The Norilsk schoolboy’s mentor, Ismail Bayramov, did not hide his pride of the talented student.
“We always help the guys who come to us and are passionate about their idea. Ernest is a great guy, because the most difficult thing is to write software, a program that would control the device, for this you have to know the programming language. Machines without our commands are nothing, and you have to be able to speak their language, you have to be able to communicate with them. Ernest succeeded in this”, Ismail Bayramov noted.
According to Ismail, the process of invention is always creativity, a search for a solution.
“It’s fascinating. When something doesn’t work out, you get angry, try again, again and again. And when you find a solution to a problem, you feel delight and satisfaction. You should love the process, and there will always be a result”, added the mentor.
The victories of our young fellow countrymen would not have been possible without the support of the Norilsk administration and the Nornickel company.
“The IMAKE engineering marathon itself not only reveals new talents in the scientific and technical sphere, but also helps experienced inventors develop. Fablab contributes to this in many ways, it has assembled a qualified team that often wins social project competitions within the charity program World of New Opportunities and directs grant funds to involve young minds in engineering”, said Tatyana Dyakova, chief specialist of the Nornickel’s Polar Division’s charity and corporate community development department.
She noted that Ernest also participated in a business game – a test drive of startups as part of the opening of an acceleration program for schoolchildren and students, which was also organized by Nornickel in partnership with the center for regional development and business technologies of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
“You can see how participation in Nornickel’s events contributes to the guys’ development: first, you can win at the IMAKE level, and then come up with the same idea at the startup level and subsequently monetize your idea. These are excellent opportunities that the company offers for talented guys who are motivated to succeed”, concluded Tatyana Dyakova.
