#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a meeting of the Council of Participants of Navigation along the Northern Sea Route (NSR) was held.
The meeting participants discussed the construction of an Arctic cargo fleet and nuclear icebreakers of project 22220, the organization of regular subsidized flights from St. Petersburg to the Far East, as well as the navigation safety system development in the Northern Sea Route waters.
One of the ways to develop the NSR the meeting participants considered the use of the capabilities and competencies of the participants in the St. Petersburg Scientific and Production Arctic Cluster. We are talking about a system for monitoring ice conditions and underwater objects using unmanned aerial and underwater vehicles, as well as the use of an all-wave radio network for navigation and data exchange between ships and coastal services on the Northern Sea Route.
Special attention was paid to the decision-making system development for the search for distressed ships, cargo escort information service, as well as the use of Arctic lifeboats with jet-pneumatic propulsion, and much more.
The Council of Navigation Participants along the Northern Sea Route was established in July 2022. The organization’s main goal is to develop proposals for improving the quality of services provided to investment projects’ operators and shipping companies carrying out the goods transportation in the Northern Sea Route waters.
