Residents of territories excluded from the list are promised to keep the benefits.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A new list of Far North regions and equivalent territories has appeared on the Telegram channel of the Cabinet of Ministers. The list was approved by the government. President Putin overturned Boris Yeltsin’s 1993 edict that equated certain areas with the conditions of the Far North.

The new list includes the north of the Krasnoyarsk region, individual parts of the republics of Altai, Buryatia, Karelia, Komi, Tyva, Zabaikalsky, Habarovsk, Perm, Primorsky regions, Amur, Arhangelsk, Irkutsk, Sahalin, Tomsk, Tyumen regions, Hanty-Mansi autonomous district. Also, Yakutia, Magadan, Murmansk regions, Nenets and Chukotka regions, Yamal-Nenets autonomous district and Kamchatka were completely included there.

The Kremlin called the amendments technical. They were introduced as part of the changes in the Development Strategy for the Arctic Zone. Residents of the territories that were included in the previous editions of the document will continue to receive the prescribed northern benefits.
