#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the famous Dolgan artist Boris Molchanov, the XX Taimyr creative arts and crafts competition for the award named after the outstanding representative of the Taimyr intelligentsia has been launched.
In his paintings – graphic, leather, pictorial – Boris Molchanov never got tired of talking about his native places in which he spent his childhood, trying to remember the details of nomadic life, signs, customs and laws of the tundra, which are certainly worth observing.
Professional and amateur artists, masters of decorative and applied arts over 14 years of age are invited to participate in the competition.
Winners will be chosen in four main categories:
Artistic carving on bone and wood;
Artistic beadwork, leather and fur processing;
Art processing of other materials (ceramics, floristry, metal, etc.);
Folk costume (traditions and modernity).
Competition entries are accepted until November 29. Then experts from the artistic council of the Taimyr House of Folk Art will select the best. On December 4, 2023, the jury will determine the winners through open voting. The competition winners will be awarded on December 9.
