#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The jury of the event industry prestigious national award Event of the Year awarded the Taimyr ethnic festival Big Argish the third place in the category Educational Event of the year. The award results were summed up on March 16 in Moscow.
The annual Big Argish festival is organized by the Norilsk Development Agency (NDA) with the support of the municipalities of Norilsk and Taimyr and the Nornickel company. Big Argish is a celebration of the long Taimyr winter meeting.
The festival immerses local residents and guests of the territory in the original culture of the Taimyr peninsula, in the tradition of indigenous peoples, helps to understand why the Nganasans, Evenks, Dolgans, Enets and Nenets love winter so much.
In 2022, Big Argish introduced not only the nomadic, but also the village lifestyle of the Taimyr ethnic groups. In the format of an edutainment, the participants of expeditions organized by the NDA and the villages residents themselves spoke about life in the Taimyr outback.
The ethnic festival in Taimyr is always not only beautiful and informative, but also delicious. During the holiday, restaurants, cafes and retail chains in Norilsk and Dudinka host the Culinary Argish. Chefs offer dozens of original dishes, desserts and drinks made from authentic Taimyr products – northern fish, venison, northern fish roe, tundra mushrooms and berries.
Event of the Year is the highest award for professionals in the event industry. In 2023, the status award will be held for the eleventh time. It traditionally identifies the best event practices in Russia, covering all event formats.
In April, at the exhibition In the Center of Taimyr, the NDA will present more than 50 destinations for recreation: visitors will be able to win tours, buy souvenirs and taste Arctic delicacies.
