#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. At a regular meeting of the city planning council, the deputies discussed two issues related to the new festive illumination of the city.
The experts concluded that the illumination in the city in its current state is outdated. They looked at new lighting designs. When developing them, the northern climatic conditions, wind and snow loads, as well as the real capabilities of metal supports were taken into account.
“We have two companies that not only offer sketches, but also design and manufacture various kinds of illumination – Azbuka Sveta and End Light”, said Victoria Chulanova, deputy director for City Environment Development at the Norilsk Development Agency. “They suggested dividing the streets of all districts into three categories. For the first category, more magnificent and colorful sketches of illumination decorations are planned. For the second one – lush, colorful, but without stretch marks, and for the third – not so voluminous, but with bright colors”.
From a huge number of illumination options, the NDA specialists, together with representatives of the districts, city planning departments, housing and communal services and Norilskavtodor (Administration for the maintenance and construction of Norilsk roads), have chosen the most suitable ones, taking into account the characteristics of the territory.
The Azbuka Sveta company suggested emphasizing the northern motives of the city: adding colorful streamers on the central streets, place figures of animals – symbols of the city on metal supports (a bear in the central district, a deer in Talnah, an owl in Kayerkan). On the third type of supports, curls, flowers, cloudberries and blueberries were offered as street ornaments.
Victoria Chulanova said that the illumination is supposed to be modern, with the use of energy-saving lamps, which will reduce the expenses of the city treasury.
Having discussed the proposed options, the members of the Norilsk city planning council approved the replacement of illumination, taking into account some of the comments voiced during the discussion, in particular the installation of objects.
