Arctic heats up faster than the rest of the planet

Scientists propose to 'freeze' the North again.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The air temperature in the Arctic is growing faster than in other regions of the Earth. The process can threaten with negative consequences for the weather on the entire planet. This is stated in the report of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group (CCAG).

“The Arctic is warming up much faster than the global rise in temperatures. Over the past 30 years, the Arctic has warmed up 0.81 degrees Celsius per decade – more than three times faster than the world on average (0.23 degrees Celsius per decade)”, Interfax writes, citing the study.

According to scientists, the Arctic is one of the most important elements of the Earth system that affect the regulation of the climate of the entire planet.

“It cannot be ruled out that the rapid warming and melting of ice in the Arctic has provoked additional changes in our weather, and this explains the excessiveness of these extreme weather events”, the report says.

In turn, CCAG chairman David King said that humanity can cope with climate change, and there are five years to implement specialized programs.

In particular, scientists propose to ‘freeze the Arctic again’: to create a cloud cover that will hang over the Arctic Ocean for three months of polar summer. They hope that the cover will reflect the sun’s rays so that the polar ice, which has increased in size over the winter, will persist in the summer.

“If we do all this, we will have a secure future for humanity that will thrive in the next century”, concluded David King.

Earlier we wrote that due to warming in the Arctic, the last refuge of polar bears began to melt: where there were centuries-old ice floes, scientists saw clear water.
