#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Nornickel’s site – the Angidrit mine – became the winner of the international contest Best Geographical Dictation site in the category Unusual Venue.
The Geographical Dictation at the Angidrit mine was organised by the Nornickel Polar Division’s public relations department, the local branch of the Russian Geographical Society, Norilsk Nickel Corporate university, where the underground training ground is located, and the Norilsk Support Complex enterprise.
In the dictation’s tenth anniversary year, the event was held underwater, underground, on land, and even in space – a total of 11 000 sites.
More than 100 sites from all over the world, including Russia, France, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Argentina, took part in the competition for the best site, which was organised for the second time. Participants competed in the categories Unusual Venue, Unique Decoration, Creative Implementation, Vivid Debut, Best Video and others.
“We are proud that our venue has become one of the best in the international Geographical Dictation 2024 campaign. We did not just provide a unique space, but strived to create an atmosphere that emphasises the importance of education and culture in our society. Norilsk is a special place on the geographical map. It is home to some of the world’s richest deposits of nickel, platinum and palladium. We will continue to support important initiatives and strengthen the love for our Motherland”, said Igor Payatelev, general director of Norilsk Support Complex.
In addition to the Angidrit mine, Norilsk was marked by another interesting location for writing the Geographical Dictation. Thus, the winner in the category Unusual Venue was NordStar airline as well, which held the dictation on board the Norilsk-Moscow flight.
