Abnormally snowy winter expected in Russia

October 06, 2021

Norilsk and Taimyr are already covered with snow.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Russians were promised an abnormally snowy winter. Despite the ongoing global warming, the process of ice melting has stopped in the Arctic this year.

According to the Phobos Center, the coming winter in most of Russia may turn out to be abnormally snowy. The greatest amount of precipitation is expected in southern Russia, in the upper reaches of the Yenisey and Ob rivers, near lake Baikal and in the north of the Far East.

As forecasters noted, despite the ongoing global warming, the process of ice melting has stopped in the Arctic this year, and this is what will affect the weather in the entire Northern Hemisphere – Arctic air masses will penetrate further south than usual.

It is also reported that winter has already come to some regions, snowfalls and even storms have begun. So, Chukotka, Yamal, the Southern Urals, Siberia and Taimyr are under snow already.

Earlier, we reported that the melting of permafrost is accelerated by shrubs.
