41 Red Book fish released from nets

October 14, 2020

Law enforcement officers prevented seven million rubles worth of damage.

To preserve the endangered species of Siberian sturgeon – a symbol of Taimyr and the Krasnoyarsk region, several departments have united: the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rosgvardia, Rosrybolovstvo, the Ministry of Emergencies.

“The Taimyr District is the most attractive place for poachers.  The Yenisey is 600 kilometers long.  Poachers use unregistered nets and trappers – these are big hooks that do not leave the fish a chance to survive”, said the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.

And they published exclusive footage of barbaric fishing means seized from poachers – these are kukan, samolov, illegal networks.

For six months of this year, in Taimyr, the police freed from the nets and released 41 red-booked fish, thereby preventing damage to the northern nature for seven million rubles.
