#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Scientists from the Taimyr Nature Reserves directorate – Igor and Elena Pospelov – shared the results of floristic research that was carried out last summer in the protected zone of the Putorana nature reserve.
The researchers found 12 species of vascular plants new to the flora of this territory, including five species new to the Putorana plateau.
In addition, populations of 13 species included in the Krasnoyarsk region’s Red Book, and one – in the Red Book of Russia, were discovered. Among them there are Mongolian feather grass, Taimyr brome, subholarctic cobresia, Malyshev gentian, arctic castillea.
“In addition to those we found, also when analyzing observations from the portal www.inaturalist.org, a new species both for the Putorana plateau and for the protected zone was discovered – Pedicularis villosa Ledeb. ex Spreng. – woolly mytnik”, says the message from Taimyr Nature Reserves directorate.
In general, the new species for the flora of the protective zone and the Putorana nature reserve are: Siberian cobresia; loose sedge; bush birch; Funston’s saxifrage; Kuril tea (cinquefoil) bush and bearded gentian.
