Standard of responsibility

September 10, 2020

The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East will design the document.

The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East will approve the standards of the Russian Federation Arctic zone residents’ responsibility in relations with the indigenous peoples of the North. The government decree, expanding the department’ authority, comes into force on September 9.

The document gives the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East new powers for state support of entrepreneurial activity in the Arctic zone of Russia. Thus, the department will provide land plots for the investment projects implementation by the residents of the Arctic zone, issue permits for construction and commissioning of facilities.

The ministry competence also includes the coordination of unscheduled inspections of the Arctic zone residents and the grounds for their conduct. In addition, the ministry will approve the standard of the residents’ responsibility to the indigenous minorities living in the Arctic. For this, the department plans to create a public council of the Arctic zone, which will monitor the interaction of the residents with indigenous peoples and take part in the development of measures to protect the environment.

As the This is Taimyr previously wrote, at the end of August, a competition for obtaining the status of residents of the Arctic zone started. The first applications came from the Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions.
