#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Researcher Alexander List on July 21 with his team went to the Putorana plateau, from where he will make a week-long hike to the nearest settlement.
He has visited the land of a thousand lakes and waterfalls more than once, but amazing places where no human has set foot for hundreds of years continue to beckon him with their unexploredness.
In an interview with NGS24, a native of Dudinka said that he first visited Lama and Melkoye lakes as a child, with his father and relatives. Then nobody knew the name of Putorana. As well as the fact that on the territory of the plateau there is a reserve, which recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The situation, according to him, has not changed much today.
“I even wrote in my song: “Putorana plateau – is it somewhere in Spain? No, it’s under your nose, guy”. Probably, 95 percent of Russians do not know where the Putorana plateau is located”, Alexander List notes with regret.
He has already visited protected areas several times, where he traveled by seaplanes with a team of like-minded people. There they studied the territory, took unique pictures.
“I have a shot of a waterfall, which I even called the List’s Fall: you look at it, for example, in July, when the glaciers are actively melting, it’s just a waterfall. And when the spillway becomes smaller, in August, you see how absolutely well the face of a person is drawn on the rock”, the tourist is amazed.
There are a lot of unusual places on the plateau, according to him. The diversity of flora and fauna is amazing. There are also some anomalous places. It is not only uncomfortable for a person to be there – it is impossible. It is no coincidence that the Putorana plateau is famous among ufologists: unusual celestial phenomena are regularly observed here – bright fireballs flying along zigzag trajectories. And the International Association for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence SETI included the plateau in the top ten most supposedly visited by UFO places in Russia.
“The body just breaks down there. Some kind of anomalous magnetic field. The last time we visited such a place, it strongly beckoned back – to once again experience these negative feelings. But still, common sense and reason told me that I should not do this. And we didn’t fly there anymore”, admits Alexander List.
In April and May, on the Putorana plateau, you can get into a black blizzard. But if you are lucky with the weather, you can see endless expanses, snow-white and icy waterfalls, which, when frozen, turn into icefalls – huge blocks of ice 20-50 meters high.
In this harsh place, where it is minus 60 in winter, and the summer is short, with clouds of mosquitoes and midges, you will hardly meet a person. It is impossible to live on the Putorana Plateau. There is no comfort there.
“You need to adapt and get used to this, not everyone succeeds. There is a certain state of the body, peace of mind or, conversely, confusion. Everyone has their own, like me”, the traveler admits.
And yet he believes that for him this is the best place on Earth.
Earlier, we talked about the fact that the Putoransky reserve topped the rating of the most inaccessible and mysterious places in Russia. According to the online publication People of the North, the Putorana plateau was included in the top 7 most attractive places for tourists in the Arctic.
