#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. This was the so-called use of the atom for peaceful purposes. According to the official version – for deep seismic sounding of the earth’s crust for minerals. The customer of the explosions was the USSR Ministry of Geology.
Two explosions were carried out in 1975 and 1977 on the northern shore of lake Lama, near cape Tonky. Exploded nuclear charges in a salt layer at a depth of 800 meters. The power of the first explosion was 7.5 thousand tons of TNT equivalent, the second – almost twice as much – 13 kilotons.
A clearing once led to the site of the explosion from the shore of Lama, along which a huge 30-meter drilling rig was dragged by tractors, which still stands one and a half kilometers from the shore.
In 1982, in one of the wells of the Soleninskoye gas condensate field, 190 kilometers from Dudinka, a third underground nuclear explosion was carried out. The depth of the charge there was 960 meters, the explosion power was 16 kilotons.
All three explosions on Taimyr were camouflage, that is, at great depths in wells, which were clogged after that – filled with cement.
Control surveys are periodically carried out at the site of explosions. The last time was in 2015. No radioactive contamination was found.
