Taimyr Salt gastronomic expedition ended in Norilsk

August 26, 2022

The final day of the gastronomic expedition was held in Norilsk. The participants went on a sightseeing tour of the city and learned how the city will change until 2035.

ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The program includes the construction of new housing, the modernization of urban infrastructure and the development of social facilities. New public spaces will appear in the city, a museum of modern art, among the objects of first importance – a new school in Oganer and a clinic in Talnah.

“I see the Taimyr Salt expedition mission in immersing the audience, which does not yet understand what Norilsk and Taimyr are, into our features, our history, our tourism potential. I am very pleased that the expedition had elements of not only gastronomic and natural, but also industrial tourism. This allows the city guests to understand how it appeared and what kind of work was its creation basis.

Today, a huge number of interesting projects are being implemented on the territory, many of which are unique for the country. We are all working to make our industrial city truly modern and comfortable for life”, commented Roman Kulyan, the Norilsk Development Agency first deputy director.

On a tour on the Norilsk center, the expedition members learned about the famous Norilsk architects and the main stages of the city’s construction.

The excursion’s main point was a visit to the First House of Norilsk, an object of cultural heritage of regional significance.

From this hut, built by geologists under the leadership of Nikolay Urvantsev in 1921 and having gone through several restorations and relocations, a great history of the future city began.

“For the first time I was in Taimyr a year ago – from Krasnoyarsk I reached Dudinka by boat, visited Norilsk and the Putorana plateau. But I didn’t really see the city itself, because Norilsk, as a city of labor glory, is covered with labor blisters, behind which its real strength and beauty are not immediately visible. While sincere people who love their city passionately, and the energy here are amazing.

Norilsk is worthy of a separate visit, and everything that I learned from the locals inspires not even hope, but an absolute conviction that the city will continue to change for the better”, restaurateur Stanislav Lisichenko shared his impressions.

The Taimyr Salt second gastronomic expedition organized by the Norilsk Development Agency with the support of Nornickel, took place in the region from 21 to 25 August.

The project participants were famous chefs, restaurateurs, gastronomic observers, federal journalists and bloggers. Many of them visited Norilsk for the first time and on the last day of the expedition admitted that they had left a piece of their heart in the northern city.

Recall that in Dudinka, the Taimyr guests swam in the Yenisey, saw the mammoth Zhenya and a unique seaport, and visited Lama lake on the Putorana plateau, waterfalls and the Neralah Village camp site – the first of eight glamping sites that will appear in the buffer zone of the Putoransky Reserve as part of tourist complex Zatundra. In Norilsk, the gastroexpedition participants went down to the Nornickel mine and tasted the miners’ rations.
