Norilsk views postcards were popular souvenirs

October 10, 2022

Norilsk printing house began local photographs printing for sale in 1954.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Photo masters offered not only postcards with the Norilsk environs sights images, also photo collages. Any portrait could be imprinted in a congratulatory postcard for the New Year or Women’s Day.

Such souvenirs were in great demand among Norilsk residents. Most of the them had relatives on the mainland and sending them a card with the inscription ‘Hello from the Arctic’ was chic.

Subsequently, postcards, photographs, collages and entire albums were made by the Norilsk photo workshop.

The city art council controlled the postcards, badges and Norilsk souvenirs execution level, as well as the Norilsk entire external design. The council included artists, architects, journalists and party workers.

In the History Spot’s previous publication, we told that Taimyr belongs to the areas of the excess moisture.
