#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. One of the first orders of the Norilskstroy head, Vladimir Matveev, read: “… in order to introduce physical culture and develop shooting sports, organize a department of the Dynamo sports society”.
It was the Dynamo time of Norilsk sports. In 1942, the construction of the first Dynamo stadium began in the city.
The first chess tournaments were organized by a section of the Dynamo council.
In 1946, at the Dynamo regional spartakiad, athletes from Norilsk took first places in athletics, gymnastics, basketball and shooting, the Norilsk Dynamo won the regional football cup.
In the war and post-war years, small (1944) and large (1949) gyms, the ‘upper’ field, the pavilion of the Dynamo stadium (1944) and the first ski base with it (1944), a shooting range ( 1945), boat and swimming stations on the lakes of the Old City and Valyok.
In the 1950s, Dynamo was replaced by the voluntary sports societies Metallurg and Trud, and under their flags Norilsk athletes went to parades. In 1961, the Norilsk club Zapolyarnik became the main sports association.
