If we look at Dolgoye lake from Octyabrskaya square we can imagine that we are at the city beach which worked there at that time. And the boat station was on the farthest side of the lake, behind the dam. A pier for 40 boats was built there.
Boat rental and the beach were the main summer attractions of Norilsk residents. On hot days, the shore of Dolgoye was as crowded as some famous resort’s beach.
A rescue station and a first-aid post worked there. The Norilsk people did different kinds of water sports on Dolgoye. In addition to ordinary rowing, they went kayaking, sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving and winter swimming.
