The act of acceptance into operation of the Nadezhda metallurgical plant’s second stage with a good rating was signed by the state commission only on July 9.
At the same time, another historic meeting was held on the construction site of the plant with the participation of senior officials of the ministries and departments of the country, the city heads, combine, plant. A symbolic key (weighing 18 kilograms) was raised above the heads of the combine director Boris Kolesnikov, plant director Albert Voronov and head of Taimyrenergostroy Anatoly Zakopyrin.
The main metallurgical enterprise of the Norilsk combine, which had been under construction since February 1971, reached its design capacity by 1985, the half-century anniversary of the Norilsk Mining and Metallurgical Combine.
