Homeland got Soleninsky gas in December 1972

March 19, 2021

The Taimyr Geophysical Expedition, organized in 1961, discovered eight gas and condensate fields on the peninsula at once.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The first gas pipeline Messoyakha – Norilsk became a reality in December 1970. Two years later, the first torch was lit at the new Yuzhno-Soleninsky gas field.

It was the largest of the three gas fields developed by that time, but its reserves were enough for the Norilsk only for two decades

Ten years after Yuzhno-Soleninsky, in December 1982, as the newspapers of that time wrote, “the darkness of the polar night was lit up” by the first torch of the Severo-Soleninsky field. It was the largest of the three gas fields developed by that time, but its reserves were enough for the Norilsk only for two decades.
