#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In the photographs of 1972, taken during the work of the geological party on the Fokinskaya area, the oldest and very respected specialist Fyodor Starshinov stands out among the geologists (second from the right in the main photo).
In 1972, the geologist of the Norilsk complex geological exploration expedition turned 67 years old. Fyodor Starshinov entered the profession at the age of 39, after being released from Norillag (with subsequent rehabilitation). He started in the geological management of the combine, which in 1955 became well-known to all the Norilsk Integrated Geological Exploration Expedition (NKGRE).
As the head of the party, Starshinov participated in the exploration of most of the iconic deposits of the Norilsk region and Taimyr. Among others, he discovered the Kotui-Maymechenskaya province with its mica, titanium and other riches.
Search work on Fokinskaya area continued for more than one decade without Fyodor Starshinov. The excellent student of mineral exploration, in addition to discovered deposits, left the geological museum created by him at the NKGRE.
