#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. He is called the Norilsk boxing founder. Although the box club in Norilsk existed long before his arrival, but the coaches often changed, and the competitions were held irregularly.
In the late 1960s, hundreds of boys wanted to attend the classes. Every week, Tyomin peeled appart dozens of them until there were about fifty guys left.
Tyomin said: “There are boxers who, after a knockdown, get up and fight on – these are real fighters”. He knew how to find such ones among his students.
His discipline was always tough – he could expel a student for being late, negligence. But that was only a test: Evgeny believed that if a guy left, it was not meant to be. But if the athlete resisted, asked to come back, Evgeny always took him back.
He treated all the children as if they were his own sons. The respect his students had for him was boundless. Sometimes parents came to Tyomin to complain about their children with the words: “Please talk to my son. You are more authoritative for him than we are”.
During his work, Tyomin trained 20 masters of sports. His pupils became champions of the Krasnoyarsk region, participants and the RSFSR championships prize-winners, the USSR Cup and Russian championships prize-winners.
On May 17, 2008, a memorial plaque to boxing coach Evgeny Tyomin was placed on the facade of the House of Physical Education on Octyabrskaya street in Norilsk. The place was not chosen by chance. It was there that the Norilsk career of the young coach began, where he worked until the end of his life.
In the last issue of the History Spot photo project, we told about the fact that Norilsk people won the right to design their own city.
