#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The airport under construction at that time did not even have the minimum necessary facilities for normal operation and passenger service.
From the text of the city executive committee decision: “To oblige the head of the airport Alykel comrade Blagodyr to ensure the airfield operation according to the regulations 12 hours a day for the reception and release of Il-18 and An-10 aircraft”.
The document noted that the Alykel airfield, according to the conclusion of the state commission, was put into operation for the period September-November for the transportation of passengers accumulated in Moscow and Krasnoyarsk. There was no other way out, otherwise the combine’s workers would not have returned from their summer holidays.
Since the airfield was not ready for normal passenger service, the railway workers were asked to install two cars at the Alykel railway station, converting them into a temporary station.
On August 29, the first Il-18 aircraft arrived in Alykel from Krasnoyarsk. So in 1964, air communication between Alykel and the mainland began for the first time. But the construction of the airfield complex was completed only two years later.
In the last issue of the History Spot photo project we told about Boris Kolesnikov, who became one of the most titled Norilsk citizens.
