#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Every day, Norilskshahtservis – a Nornickel structure enterprise’s – specialists repair various mining equipment underground and on the ground, and their work is coordinated by the production department, headed by Artur Valiyev.
On the eve of Miner’s Day, a holiday not only for those who mine ore, but also for those who do everything to ensure that mining enterprises operate without emergency shutdowns, we met with the head of the production department of the Norilskshahtservis trust.
“The department name speaks for itself – we oversee all production activities of our trust: we organize, plan and control”, explains Artur. “This is a big responsibility. I admit that when I was first appointed to this position, such responsibility even scared me, but today, almost four years later, I am used to being responsible for everything. The knowledge and experience that increase each year help”.
Artur Valiyev admits that this was also greatly facilitated by the fact that, before becoming a boss, he went through a good working school. A graduate of the North Caucasus Mining and Metallurgical Institute, he came to Norilsk in 2013. His first place of work in the Arctic was the Komsomolsky mine, where he started as a miner, then was a fitter for repairing mining equipment, a site mechanic, deputy head of repairs, and in 2019, in connection with the enterprise transformation, the entire repair personnel of the mine was transferred to Norilsknickelremont enterprise, and in 2020 Valiyev was appointed head of the production department.
“In my opinion, working in a mine is a good training for every man, which remains for life, no matter what the person does later”, Valiyev is sure.
Moving up the career ladder, Artur Valiyev studied production, technological processes, learned to interact with people – in a word, he mastered the difficult science of production.
“Today, I see my task as a manager primarily in organizing the smooth operation of the trust”, he says. “Recently, we’ve replaced an underground machine at the Octyabrsky mine – this is a major repair, where we had to work hard. In May and June, we changed the dispensers on the northern and southern sides of Komsomolsky mine”, says the production department head. “By the way, independent installation of dispensers is a completely new job for our specialists, but they have coped with it brilliantly”.
Not only professional experience and knowledge help Valiyev to maintain such a rhythm, but also his beloved family, he calls it his reliable rear. And also mountaineering, where he has also achieved success. This year he’s conquered Elbrus. And he is not ready to stop there. Mountaineer Valiyev has plans to climb mount Kilimanjaro in the near future, while Artur, head of the production department of Norilskshakhtservis, also has great ambitions:
“A soldier who doesn’t dream of becoming a general is a bad soldier, and I dream of that too. Perhaps, I’ll even become the head of our trust someday. I believe that every specialist should dream and strive to make a good production career. This is normal, but for this you need to study a lot and not be afraid of difficulties. On the eve of our common holiday, I wish all my colleagues a strong roof over their heads, confidence in the future and health”.
Earlier, by Miner’s Day, the Zapolyarny mine had mined its 325 millionth ton of ore.
