#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. According to the Department for Civil Defense and Emergencies of the Taimyr administration, on May 16, 12:00 o’clock, in the Dudinka area, the water level on the Yenisey river is at around 7 meters 15 centimeters. During the day, the water rose by 79 centimeters.

The ice edge on the Yenisey is located between Kureika and Igarka – 400 kilometers from Dudinka.

On Tuesday, May 17, the Avraamiy Zavenyagin icebreaker started making cuts in the Yenisey ice at the confluence of the Dudinka river in the area of ​​the zero berth.

The preliminary forecast for the spring of 2022 promises the polar city a traditional flood without complications.

“Tentatively, the approach of the flood wave is expected in mid-May, the flooding of the berths with a mark of 8 meters is expected on May 25. These are preliminary data, the dates may vary plus or minus three days”, said Igor Suhov, the Nornickel hydraulic structures monitoring center hydrotechnical laboratory’s chief specialist.
