#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Scientists from the North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU) have patented a device for generating electricity in the field for the North nomadic peoples’ homes.
This is a thermoelectric converter that is compact, portable, reliable and easy to use. In addition, as the developers note, their device is half the price of analogues, since it does not include a stove – a container with water is placed directly on the hearth.
Another advantage is that the Peltier elements are attached to the pipe, and not to the container itself, which is in contact with the fire. Thus, the U-shaped pipe is located at a distance from the source, which, in turn, makes it possible to increase the Peltier elements’ service life.
It is noted that the invention was inspired by the Chukotka indigenous inhabitants’ life – nomadic peoples live in yarangas and need power, TASS reports with reference to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science’s Telegram channel.
