#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On the Taimyr ice arena, young curlers fought the day before. The team from Kuzbass played with the Krasnoyarsk team, and the Taimyr teams played with each other: the first squad against the second. The winners of yesterday’s games are the main part of the Dudinka team and Krasnoyarsk curlers.
“Emotions, of course, are strong. The guys are very excited, they are trying their best”, says the Dudinka curling school coach Andrey Zharnikov.
Today, Krasnoyarsk will take to the ice against the main team of Dudinka, and Kuzbass will play against the second Taimyr team. For young athletes, the tournament is a great opportunity to gain tremendous experience in competitions with the strongest in their age category.
The winner of the tournament among children’s teams will be determined on May 28. Champions will be awarded at the opening ceremony of the WCT Nornickel Curling Cup, which will be held with the participation of two-time world figure skating champion Evgenia Medvedeva.
This year, for the first time, competitions between the strongest women’s and men’s teams will be held at the cup. Russia will be represented at the tournament by several national teams. Traditionally, the competition was organized by the Russian Curling Federation with the support of Nornickel. Recall, on May 28, a biathlon shooting range will open in Dudinka.
