#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Volunteers from Nornickel’s Kindness Combine program played outdoor games with the new Hatanga hockey team.
Despite the cool weather – minus 28 with wind, the children were looking forward to the guests not only to meet in a friendly match, but also to participate in the entertainment program.
A hockey rink in Hatanga was opened with a grant from Nornickel’s World of New Opportunities charity program. The team coach Oleg Turchenko, an energetic and purposeful person – a sailor who, at first glance, has little to do with hockey, applied for the creation of a children’s team, inventory and equipment.
Children from 10 to 15 years old in new hockey uniforms became participants in the entertainment program, which was compiled by volunteers of the Kindness Combine corporate project.
Norilsk residents arranged a warming-up for young hockey players to the music, competitions and relay races on ice – two hours of active movement in a hockey box. The guests brought curling equipment with them and held a competition among hockey players with teaching the rules.
“We were happy to make a holiday for the children in Hatanga, and the children’s eyes were burning with delight. Many more participants came than just a hockey team with a coach. Parents brought their children, despite the rather cold day”, said Elena Fedorets, the Nornickel Polar Division’s charitable department’s chief specialist.
Now the Hatanga young hockey players are planning to arrive in Norilsk in mid-April for training and competitions.
