#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. At the regional government’s meeting, the state program for reservation and development of the traditional way of life and economic activity of indigenous peoples was approved. The total funding for the program’s activities for 2025-2027 will amount to two billion 985 million rubles from the regional and federal budgets, the Northern Territories Development Agency’s press service reported.
Thus, 1 billion 838 million rubles will be allocated to support the traditional way of life of indigenous peoples in the next three years, and about 850 million rubles will be allocated to the development of domestic reindeer herding.
Starting next year, expenses will be increased for the construction of log houses for hunters, for providing them with communications equipment and kerosene, and for compensating part of the costs of farms engaged in the development of northern reindeer herding.
In addition, expenses for the provision of goods and materials (beams, snowmobiles, boats, traps, fuel and lubricants, etc.), first aid kits for people leading a traditional way of life, monthly compensation payments to reindeer herders, etc. have been indexed by five percent.
For the next year, funds have been allocated for the much-needed grant support for initiatives by northerners aimed at developing reindeer herding and fishing farms, strengthening their material and technical base: upgrading equipment, purchasing reindeer and sled dogs. Indigenous peoples will be provided with housing – both stationary and mobile.
Reindeer herders and fishermen will receive social payments in connection with traditional economic activities, fuel and lubricants, snowmobiles, boats and boat motors, they will be subsidized for expenses related to the extraction and sale of meat and fish, they will be provided with vouchers for spa treatment, and free dental care.
The program also includes support measures for young students from the indigenous minorities – additional scholarships, compensation for travel and tuition expenses. In total, the state program provides for more than 70 different measures of state support.
Earlier, we reported that the Krasnoyarsk indigenous minorities’ representatives will receive solar power plants at the expense of the budget.
