#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Siberian Federal District championship in snowboarding – the snowboard cross and giant slalom disciplines – ended in Krasnoyarsk. About 160 athletes from seven regions of Russia, including ours, took part in the competition.
Taimyr was represented by students of the winter sports development center under the guidance of coach Ivan Yuryev. According to the competition results, three snowboarders reached the small final in their age groups: Anastasia Mamysheva (girls 13–14 years old) and Veronika Zharkova (women 15 years old and older) took eighth place, Alexander Lampay won his race and took the final fifth place in age category of boys 11–12 years old.
In addition, Taimyr snowboarders tried their hand at a new discipline – giant slalom, which is technically difficult and requires special equipment. In these competitions, Veronika Zharkova took ninth place among women.
It should be noted that the northerners once again showed a competitive level of training, despite the restrictions they face at the training stage, for example, the harsh weather conditions of the Far North and the lack of mountains specially equipped for training.
The trip for young athletes was organized by the winter sports development center with the financial support of the Nornickel company, which pays significant attention to creating conditions for the development of sports in Taimyr.
