#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Agency for the Northern Territories Development and the Krasnoyarsk Region Indigenous Minorities Support summed up the grant competition results. 30 winners will be supported with grants. Taimyr reindeer herders, tribal communities and entrepreneurs are among them.
Thus, thanks to financial support, four reindeer herding farms on the peninsula will be able to strengthen their material and technical base: they will buy drones to search for herds, leather for harness, tarpaulin, compound feed and mineral supplements for reindeer. Two more reindeer breeders will purchase more than 850 heads of domestic reindeer for breeding and updating the herd.
Five family (tribal) communities of indigenous people and entrepreneurs of Taimyr and Evenkia, engaged in the production of meat and fish, will update their equipment – they will buy snowmobiles and freezers.
In addition, in Evenkia, Taimyr and the Turuhansky region, entrepreneurs and tribal communities plan to open workshops for processing meat, fish and wild plants, as well as start processing reindeer skins and antlers. And an entrepreneur from Tura intends to create a nursery for hunting huskies.
Ten more projects are planned to be implemented in the field of culture of indigenous peoples of the North. Their authors want to hold festivals, sports competitions in national sports, master classes in bone carving and sew stage costumes for creative groups.
“This year we are holding a grant competition for the second time, and again the northerners demonstrate high interest and activity. The agency will allocate about 50 million rubles to implement the North residents’ initiatives. Thanks to this support, more than 80 jobs will be created in the northern territories and about 150 tons of products will be produced”, said Anton Narchuganov, head of the Agency for the Northern Territories Development and the Krasnoyarsk Region Indigenous Minorities Support.
