The official publication of the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets municipal district – the newspaper Taimyr – was included in the Russian Book of Records as containing articles in the largest number of languages.
For several decades, Taimyr has published materials in Russian, Dolgan, Nenets, Nganasan and Enets languages. Two years ago, the publication began publishing articles in Evenk. Thanks to freelance correspondents who do everything possible to preserve their native languages, the newspaper has become a record holder.
“We are sincerely grateful to the hosts of the Rodnoe Slovo page: Nina Kudryakova, Yulia Goricheva, Zoya Bolina, Elena Yamkina, Tatiana Bolina-Ukacher, as well as everyone who takes part in creating the printed edition. The record registration became possible also thanks to the support of the Together Taimyr public organization, whose goals coincide with the goals of the newspaper in terms of preserving the identity and cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of Taimyr.
Registering the record is not only a reason for pride, but also an increased responsibility. The editors will do everything possible to maintain the reputation of one of the most unique publications in our large country”, said the director of the Taimyr editorial and printing complex a.i. Maxim Upirov.
