#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. From January 31 to February 2, Dudinka will host the XXXI city tournament in Victor Kraus’s memory, the first Master of Sports of the USSR in Taimyr and a distinguished boxer. In honor of his anniversary, the local history museum will unveil an exhibition titled The First Glove of Taimyr on the tournament’s opening day.
The exhibition’s displayed materials reflect the athletic and professional journey of a man who firmly established the names of Taimyr and Dudinka in the annals of Russian sports history. The museum states:
“For twenty years, Victor Kraus’s name was synonymous with the records of competitions held both in our country and abroad. His remarkable sports biography includes 298 fights, with 262 victories. A sports referee, coach, and elite athlete – this encapsulates his essence. He passed away in 1996”.
The museum highlights that sports have always been a vital aspect of life in Taimyr, and the achievements of individuals like Victor Kraus continue to inspire young athletes to pursue new victories. His legacy also serves as a valuable example for coaches in nurturing the next generation.
A significant part of the exhibition is dedicated to the numerous awards, diplomas, and certificates that celebrate Victor Kraus’s illustrious sporting career. Additionally, the exhibit features authentic pieces of the athlete’s equipment and personal belongings.
