Sergey Baturin, recently appointed plenipotentiary representative of the of the Krasnoyarsk region governor for Norilsk and the Taimyr Municipal District, visited Norilsk. He discussed with resource-supplying organizations the issue of reconstruction of the water intake that provides the city with drinking water. This requires the attention of the authorities, because since 2013 a seasonal decrease in the water level in the area of the Norilskaya river water intake has been recorded. There is a risk that water supply interruptions will begin in the city.
The discussion was attended by the representatives of the Norilsk mayor’s office, general director of the Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company Sergey Lipin, representatives of other supporting organizations.
“Water supply to the northern city is one of the strategically important tasks. The resource shortage must not be allowed. Various options for resolving the issue are currently being worked out. Including the dam construction”, noted Sergey Baturin following the results of the meeting.
The plenipotentiary representative instructed the municipality to develop an algorithm of actions on this issue within the framework of the commission for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations.
Recall that in 2013, due to the low water level in the Norilskaya river, a dam was also erected. That year, because of the shallow water, two-thirds of small boats were not launched.
