The Ministry of Economy of the region presented the economic indicators of the region for the first half of the year.

At the meeting of the Krasnoyarsk region government, Economy and Regional Development of the region minister Yegor Vasiliev reported on the social-economic situation in January-June 2020.

First of all, he spoke about the current results in the economy sector.

“In industry, the production index was 90.3 percent compared to last year. A decrease in the production index was recorded in the extraction of minerals – 89.3 percent, in the provision of electricity, gas and steam – 93 percent, and manufacturing industries – 90.6 percent. In manufacturing, a decline in production is noted for most types of activities. In woodworking and metallurgy, production indices amounted to 92.3 and 89.3 percent, respectively. At the same time, production growth is noted in certain types of activities. For example, the production of finished metal products grew by 4.4 percent compared to the first half of the previous year. The production of coke and petroleum products demonstrates even greater growth – 24.3 percent. Despite the decline in the index, in value terms, we see that production volumes have remained approximately at the level of the first half of the last year”, noted Yegor Vasiliev.

The dynamics of agricultural production is positive – the growth rate was 3.9 percent. Successes were noted in the livestock sector – agricultural enterprises, taking into account the demand in the regional and Siberian markets, increased the production of livestock and poultry by 18.5 percent and milk by 7.2 percent.

There was a significant increase in the volume of construction work after a three-year decline – it grew by 10.9 percent. Most of the growth was noted in industrial construction. This is due to the beginning of the investment projects implementation in the north of the region. In the field of housing construction, the opposite trend has developed, which is caused by a drop in demand for real estate.

The Minister also spoke about the situation in the consumer market of the region:

“In the first half of the year, the retail trade turnover decreased by 8.7 percent compared to the same period last year, which generally corresponds to the average Russian trend. For the group of non-food products, sales decreased by 12.4 percent, for the group of food products – by 4.4 percent. In the sector of paid services to the population, there is a more significant decrease in comparison with retail trade. The volume of paid services to the population decreased by 16.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of the last year. A significant decrease was recorded in the provision of tourism services, as well as services of physical culture and sports. To a lesser extent, the decline affected transport, educational, medical and consumer services. The turnover of the catering sector has decreased by 28.5 percent compared to the same period in 2019”.

The registered unemployment rate at the end of June was 3.8 percent of the labor force. At the same time, more than 45 percent of officially registered unemployed at the time of granting the status did not work for more than a year.

The wages indicators in the region this year are higher than the national average, and in the Siberian federal district they are the highest. According to official statistics, the nominally average monthly wage in January-May increased by 6.9 percent, real wages increased by 3.8 percent.
