#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Amendments have been made to the Education Law. They affected children from families leading a nomadic and semi-nomadic lifestyle. The country will create the necessary conditions for the indigenous peoples to receive pre-school and primary general education in the places of their traditional residence and traditional economic activities.
The law authors note that this will expand the opportunities for obtaining education in an environment familiar to children of indigenous peoples who lead a nomadic or semi-nomadic lifestyle with their parents.
Previously, their education was legally regulated exclusively at the regional level. With this law adoption, such children receive a guarantee for quality training and education, provided for by the law “On education in the Russian Federation”.
For this, nomadic institutions will be created in the places of their traditional residence and economic activity. Licensing requirements for educational organizations of this kind are softened. A conclusion on the compliance with the sanitary rules of buildings, structures, premises, equipment and other property necessary for training in educational programs is no longer required.
At the First Forum of Women of the North, Siberia and the Far East, which was held in St. Petersburg, there was hope for the imminent adoption of a bill on nomadic education. With it, the indigenous peoples will have new opportunities. This is ensuring the children departure from reindeer herds, equipping nomadic schools with transport, equipment and teaching aids, training and advanced training of nomadic schools’ teachers, organizing children’s recreation, their socialization through trips to cultural capitals, large children’s camps.
