#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Agency for the Northern Territories Development and Krasnoyarsk Region’s Indigenous Minorities Support summed up the results of the regional grant competition. 60 projects in five categories were submitted to the competition. The authors of the projects live in Taimyr, Evenkia, Turuhansk district and the city of Krasnoyarsk.
Following the expert assessment, 28 projects will receive state support. Northerners plan to use the regional grant funds to create workshops for processing fish, meat and wild plants, as well as to organize workshops for dressing reindeer skins, sewing clothes and shoes and other areas.
“Traditionally, most of the projects will be implemented in the category Introducing Children and Adolescents to the Native Culture, Language and Traditional Activities of Small Peoples. The authors intend to organize language clubs, family theater groups, workshops for sewing national costumes, and also conduct master classes in arts and crafts”, the Krasnoyarsk region’s official portal reports.
In addition, as part of the Taimyr Ethnobloggers project, schoolchildren plan to create a series of videos on the Nenets culture and language. Another digital project involves upgrading a mobile application that can be used to study the Evenki language.
