#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In August 2010, during a working trip, russian prime minister (at that time) Vladimir Putin signed four quadripartite agreements with the Nornickel company.
The first agreement was the one on interaction and cooperation between the Ministry of regional development of the Russian Federation, the Krasnoyarsk region, the City of Norilsk municipal formation and MMC Norilsk Nickel PJSC on the resettlement of citizens living in the cities of Norilsk and Dudinka, to areas with favorable natural and socio-economic conditions.
For the implementation of measures for the resettlement of citizens, the agreement provided for funding in the amount of 17.7 billion rubles in the period from 2011 to 2020. The amount included 8.3 billion from Nornickel, the same amount from the federal budget and 1.1 billion from the Krasnoyarsk region.
Actual costs of Nornickel amounted to 8.651 billion rubles. Despite the fact that since 2016 federal funding for activities under the agreement has been terminated, the Nornickel company has fully fulfilled its obligations, which is a unique practice for Russia when residents of northern cities who are not employees of the company are resettled through private funding.
From 2011 to the present, more than 7 700 families have purchased apartments and moved to the mainland under the agreement.
