#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The grand opening of the Taimyr northern all-around championship in memory of Hansuta Yaptune took place in the Dudinka sports complex.
The participants were welcomed by Pavel Tomchik, Taimyr deputy head for social and political work, Alexander Ivanov, the district council of deputies’ chairman’s first deputy, and Sergey Borodin, the city council of deputies’ chairman.
“Northern all-around is not just a sport, it is a whole culture that has absorbed the traditions of the indigenous peoples of the North. This is a unique opportunity to show off your physical and moral qualities, demonstrate your skills in traditional northern sports, and share your experience with colleagues. I am sure that today’s competition will give us all a storm of emotions. I wish all the participants successful starts, exciting competition, and new victories”, Pavel Tomchik said.
Athletes from Dudinka, Hatanga, Nosok and Karaul villages entered the fight for medals. A total of 85 participants. The championship program includes the following disciplines: triple jump with a push-off with two legs, running with a stick, throwing a tynzyan on a horey, throwing an axe for distance. The final stage of the competition will be jumping over sleds. Today, October 22, the closing ceremony of the competition and the awarding of the winners will take place.
