#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Taimyr curling team – a playing coach, two experienced 19-year-old athletes and two beginners aged 10 and 11 – thanks to the Nornickel’s support, will go to the regional championship, which will be held in Krasnoyarsk from January 14 to 20.
For young athletes, this is the first competition of this level. To get into the Taimyr team, they went through a serious selection. At the championship, the Dudinians will be able to gain experience and their first level in curling.
The Dudinka team participated in such competitions from 2018 to 2020. In 2019, it even won a bronze medal. This year, thanks to the Nornickel’s support, the team not only got a chance to re-introduce itself at the regional level, but also its own personal uniform, the sketch of which was developed by team member Veniamin Bezrukih.
“Uniform is the team unity first of all. When it arrived, everyone squealed with delight. When you go to the game in uniform, with your name and stripes on it, you are in completely different mood. I know this myself. When you have a uniform, when you are a member of the national team, you don’t just come to play, you have completely different feelings inside. For us, uniform is an incentive to keep on playing our best”, said Andrey Zharnikov, the playing coach of the Taimyr team.
The strongest athletes of Krasnoyarsk will compete with the Taimyr team in the championship, but, despite this, the Dudinians are in the combative mood.
