#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Nornickel is taking part in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok. The theme for 2021 is New opportunities for the Far East in the changing world. At the first sessions, participants discuss the development of the Arctic and cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Representatives.
Today, president Vladimir Putin will have a video link with the moderators and speakers of the EEF events. Also, Putin will take part in the ceremony of signing large investment contracts.
The session Young and Smart: Cities of the Future in the Far East was moderated by Dmitry Pristanskov, state secretary – vice president for relations with government and management bodies of Nornickel.
He stressed that now, in a new reality associated with the consequences of the pandemic, there is an outflow of population from large cities to suburbs, and this entails the expansion of agglomerations outside the big city. And agglomerations today are already a new modern trend.
“According to a number of estimates, more than 40 such agglomerations are being formed. More recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Development of the Far East and the Arctic presented a project for a new ecological zone of the Far East, the so-called eco-port. All this will entail deeper urbanization processes”, noted Dmitry Pristanskov.
Nornickel specialists will also take part in an expanded meeting of the Public Council of the Northern Sea Route. In addition, with the support of the company, the session Development of Specially Protected Natural Areas will be held.
