#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In 2022, Nornickel completed its production program in full. The company increased production of all metals, with forecasted copper and platinum output, while nickel and palladium production exceeded the plan.
The main reason for the higher-than-expected results was the postponement of the flash smelting furnace (PVP-2) repair at the Nadezhda metallurgical plant to 2023, the Nornickel’s press service explained.
Last year, the company managed to minimize the impact of new risks associated with changes in the geopolitical situation on its operations. They established alternative channels for the supply of spare parts and began purchasing machinery and equipment from new suppliers from Russia and friendly countries, and built new logistics routes. Already in the fourth quarter, Nornickel’s mining enterprises began to receive new equipment and spare parts.
Another important area was the Norilsk concentrator work restoration after the accident in 2021. Its modernization was successfully completed, which made it possible to bring it to its full design capacity – about 9.2 million tons per year – in December 2022.
This year, it is planned to continue the implementation of the equipment modernization and repair program aimed at increasing the level of industrial safety.
